BOARDS DONE FOR RISD'S CINEMATIC STORYTELLING CLASS

Story Circle assignment:

For this assignment, we were tasked with breaking down one of our favorite movies into the 8 steps of Dan Harmon's story circle and making a beat board from it. It was a great exercise in summarizing a story in a small number of panels while still having it be cohesive.

Strike a Pose assignment: Adventure Time

'Strike a pose' was an exercise in drawing using model sheets and character acting. Using the Adventure Time characters, I was tasked with acting their models along with a piece of dialogue from Pulp Fiction.

Before and After assignment: "Melon Mayhem!"

For another assignment, we were tasked with providing context to a 12 panel story that had a random, absurd stock image on the 6th panel. This was an exercise in not only providing context in story, but also being deliberate with shot choices and labeling each shot with its proper name.

Mad Libs assignment: "Hammer and Son"

For our first Cinematic Storytelling assignment, we were tasked with storyboarding a Mad Libs story that we filled out as a class. Though a bit nonsensical, it was a good experiment in giving context to a story without any.
